Coviden's Senior VP Jumps Ship for Career at Bacardi

Eric Klaus, a senior vice president at Covidien, announced that he would be leaving the company at the end of January for a new position at Bacardi Limited, a distilled spirits manufacturer.

According to a press release from Bacardi Limited, Klaus will be working in a newly-established position at the company. As the communications chief for the distilled spirits company, he will manage external affairs and corporate responsibility functions at Bacardi.

Klaus has served at Covidien since 2006. During his time at the medical device company, he oversaw company rebranding following the Tyco Healthcare spinout. Prior to this time, Klaus served as a vice president of external relations at Gillette, a personal health and hygiene products company.

Eric Klaus currently works at Covidien’s headquarters in Mansfield, Massachusetts. While the company’s corporate offices are in the United States, Covidien is incorporated in Dublin, Ireland for tax purposes. Pending immigration approval, Klaus will relocate to Bermuda.

Ed Shirley is the CEO and president of Bacardi Limited, a family-owned company. In prepared remarks, he said, “We’re thrilled to add Eric to Bacardi. With his extensive career encompassing all facets of corporate, brand, and public affairs communications, he will further drive our commitment to corporate responsibility, company reputation, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders globally.” He continued, “He is a seasoned leader who believes in the power of integrated communications and collaboration among teams.”
