Companies needing low-to-medium pressure soft to rigid balloons which overcome the many drawbacks of those made of latex or silicone or the shortfalls of dip molded polyurethane balloons, can now turn to a new line of polyurethane balloons from Advanced Polymers, Inc. Custom as well as a variety of stock sizes are available.
Offered as alternatives to latex and silicone for applications calling for occlusion, anchoring and positioning a balloon or locating a device, the new balloons are especially durable and exceptionally strong. They can be pressure or volume inflated up to twice their original size and typically have burst pressures from 0.5 – 10 ATM. The new API products can be manufactured in a wide range of durometers to make them very soft and compliant to semi-compliant. A critical advantage of these balloons, unlike dip molded balloons, is that they can be fabricated with very small diameter necks in a variety of shapes and are available in a wide variety of sizes from 1 – 30 mm and larger.
