The rotomolding process is ideal for creating medical device components that are hollow, such as a fluid reservoir, by inserting material into a closed mold and heating and coating the mold walls using a bi-axial rotomolding machine. Rotomolding provides a constant wall thickness and can incorporate part features including handles, threads, undercuts, and inserts. Materials used in rotomolding include polypropylene, PVDF, and low-density, linear low-density, medium-density, high-density, or crosslinked polyethylene. Rotomolding is also ideal for medical device components that are too large for other molding processes, including plastic stretchers and medical furniture components.
