Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a type of flouropolymer commonly used in medical tubing by medical device manufacturers for its ability to withstand repeated flexing and for the lowest coefficient of friction of any plastic, preventing build-up. PTFE tubing is chemically inert and corrosion resistant, and is also able to be colored, striped, or laser marked. PTFE tubing is available with Class VI certification. PTFE tubing is self-extinguishing, has a working temperature of 500° F, and comes in a conductive form for static dissipation, making it ideal for semiconductor and other electrical medical applications like wiring systems conduit.
