Medical device package labeling
is serious business. And Computype has serious capabilities, gained over nearly four decades of uniquely identifying about 90% of North America’s blood supply, as well as labeling garments, rubber tires, electronic components, and cryogenically stored tubes. (In fact, the millions of label sets we provide annually for blood products, with their FDA-compliant adhesives, are attached to a critical medical device—a blood bag set.)
If it has unique value, it requires unique identification—and we can help. Here are some of the things we can do so you don’t have to. . .
Print-and-apply systems
There’s a lot riding on how a medical device package is labeled. Labeling must adhere to brand standards, convey exactly the right data (as dictated by the FDA or corporate requirements), be aesthetically pleasing, and contain unique serialized data—which is impossible to provide with conventional printing processes. Fortunately, we’re not conventional printers. We are experts in absolute sequence integrity, combining materials knowledge, die-cutting expertise, pre-printed or on-demand color, with automatic or semi-automatic applicators to provide exactly what you need.
Medical device package labeling is an area in which Computype excels. For example, the A+1000 is a medical device package labeler used to affix a wide variety of label sizes to a flat surface, such as a Tyvek® seal covering a tray.
Intelligent print stations
Anyone can sell you a thermal transfer printer. But we’re not just anyone; we don’t just “box drop” a thermal transfer printer with best wishes for your success. We can make your printer intelligent by providing embedded software that responds to prompts entered via touch screen, keyboard, or scanner. Sequential information can be combined with operator ID; stored formats can be recalled to meet a variety of labeling needs; laminated barcode menus can ensure only approved labels are printed. Scanners can be wired, wireless, or hands-free, and printers can be one- or two-color capable as well as RFID enabled.
Pre-printed labels and label sets
Double-adhesive (“piggyback”) labels and label sets are often used in medical device packaging lines. Labels can be removed as needed and applied to other packaging, to individual items, or to documents as needed. Our digital color process allows us to provide pre-printed labels with sequential- or variable-color. Every set can be a different color, or specific patterns of color usage can be developed to indicate specific lots, models, or even clients. Every label on the set is automatically verified with our vision-based inspection system to ensure 100% scannability, no duplicate numbers, and no sequence gaps.
- Print technologies include: Digital offset, thermal transfer, flexo, ink jet, and hot foil stamping.
- Adhesive capabilities include: Single, double (“piggyback”), permanent, removable, patterned, tamper-evident, FDA-compliant, and heat-seal.
