Introtek sensors are designed for any type of device that is infusing blood, saline solutions, liquid pharmaceuticals, or any other type of fluid into a patient's cardiovascular system. Typically, any such device is required to incorporate some form of non-invasive air bubble sensor on the tubing or liquid level detector. The Introtek air bubble sensor will detect air in the patient-connected line. A digital signal is sent from the sensor to the device processor and this, in turn, prevents the harmful or fatal air bubble to be infused into a vein or artery.

The air-bubble specification that each sensor is factory calibrated to adhere will vary depending on the application, tubing, customer requirements, and other factors.
The optical-based technology Blood Component Detector (BCD) is non-invasive and meets AAMI standards of detecting the minimum of 1% of blood component in saline. Introtek's Optical Blood Component Detector's sensitivity is fully programmable to accommodate many applications such as blood vs. saline, blood vs. plasma and dialysis. A blood leak condition (blood vs. saline) or a predetermined level is detected within a fraction of a second. This in turn, enables a doctor or nurse to intervene in order to stop the process and correct the hazardous and possibly life-threatening condition.
