Medical Micro Manufacturing Solutions

Full Service Micro Manufacturing

Mikrotech is a leading ISO-certified micro manufacturer of custom designed components and subassemblies for medical devices used in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). The company’s micromanufacturing processes overcome the limitations of established technologies, facilitating smaller components with complex features and high precision tolerances. Mikrotech offers a comprehensive range of services to support MIS designers and manufacturers in all phases of the product development cycle: micromachining, micromolding, insert micromolding, micro subassembly, and design and manufacturing engineering assistance.

Micromachining

  • Prototyping or short run production
  • 3 axis micro machining
  • Swiss screw machining
  • Materials: ABS, PEEK, PAI (Torlon), PPS, PTFE and glassed-filled materials including LCP and PEI (Ultem)

Micromolding

  • Battenfeld Microsystem 50
  • Twice the precision and repeatability as conventional molding equipment
  • Materials: LCP, PC, PP, PEEK, PEI, PMP, PPS, PSU, TPU
  • Accurately mold components weighing less than 0.1 g (.0035 oz.)
  • Dimensional tolerances of +/- .005 mm (.0002 in)
  • Maintain wall thicknesses as low as .08 mm (.003 in.)
  • Shot-to-shot volume consistency of .001 cm3
  • Runner weight less than 0.25 g
  • ISO Class 8 clean room

Insert micromolding

  • Battenfeld Microsystem 50
  • Materials: Platinum iridium, stainless steel, titanium, tungsten
  • Reduce complex secondary operations, such as bonding and welding, and increase production yields
  • ISO Class 8 clean room

Micro subassembly

  • Automated and semi-automated equipment
  • In-house automation design and fabrication
  • Project management
  • Fabrication, machining & welding
  • Complete on–site service department
  • ISO 9001 certified

Plastic design and manufacturing engineering assistance

  • In-house design and manufacturing engineering team
  • Advanced design tools
    • SolidWorks
    • SmarTeam (PDM)
    • Moldflow
    • GearTrax
    • CosmosWorks

Mikrotech has an experienced engineering team with a focused understanding of medical devices used in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). We have the ability to help reduce the complexity of manufacturing MIS devices through the process of reducing or eliminating processes that 1) use expensive machined components; 2) require highly skilled labor (artisans) using a microscope; and 3) require complex secondary operations to assemble them. Micromanufacturing technology can be an excellent lower-cost alternative to designing and manufacturing components and subassemblies for MIS devices.
