Tantec has been offering cutting-edge and environmentally friendly plasma treatment and corona surface treatment equipment for over thirty years. Tantec develops, manufactures and markets innovative equipment worldwide for Plasma Treatment and Corona Treatment of plastic components.

The unique Plasma and Corona technologies improve wettability of plastic materials with low surface energy, i.e. polyolefin materials, PE, PP and many others, by raising its surface energy and improve adhesive characteristics by creating multiple bonding sites.

The most advanced and successful methods of surface treatment are based on high voltage discharge in air at atmospheric pressure (Corona treatment/Plasma treatment), or under vacuum (Plasma treatment). Both corona treatment and plasma treatment is used to raise surface tension on plastics; Plasma Treatment is also used as a cleaning process to remove organic contamination from plastic, rubber and metal surfaces.

Tantec's corona treatment and plasma treatment equipment are available as standard units, or customized machines to suit industrial applications for automotive, aerospace, medical device, packaging and electronics industry.

Corona Treatment Equipment

  1. RotoTEC ; Universal Corona treatment system that operates with special rotating corona electrode elements resulting in complete and uniform corona treatment of the parts. It offers a cost-effective method for optimizing the adhesion properties of printing inks and coatings onto 3D parts made from low surface energy polymers such as polypropylene and polyethylene.
  2. SpotTEC ; Plug-and-Play Corona treatment unit that creates a high voltage, low frequency Corona discharge to treat the surface of 3-dimensional molded or extruded plastic parts, profiles, webs, containers, etc. Airflow presses the corona discharge towards the substrate to be treated without a counter electrode.
  3. LabelTec; Corona treatment - Web treater designed for the pre-treatment of conductive and non-conductive narrow webs. This type of system will treat one or both sides of the web and will accommodate widths from 100-500mm, running at production speeds of up to 150m/min.

Plasma Treatment Equipment

  1. PlasmaTEC; Atmospheric Plasma treating system that provides an economical solution for the cleaning and activation of complex surfaces before further processing. Component preparation is an important step prior to bonding, painting, varnishing and coating processes.
  2. VacuTec; Vacuum Plasma Treatment system that creates a high frequency electrical discharge under low pressure to treat the surface of various shaped products including profiles, containers, moldings and extrusions for improving the adhesion of printing inks, glues and coatings.

Leak Detection Equipment

LeakTEC is an in-line material inspection device used to detect pinholes, leaks or cracks on a multitude of plastic products, primarily manufactured in the Food, Pharmaceutical and the Medical Device Industry.

Field applications include surface testing of molding and welding joints in medical devices. (examples medical tubes, containers, pipettes, cannulas, and extruded film for medical bags.)

This fully automatic test is capable of detecting pinholes smaller than 4 microns by introducing an electrical potential between a detecting electrode and an electrical ground, (i.e. metal jig or mandrel holding the part) while the plastic part itself acts as the insulator.

Quality Control Equipment

  1. DyneTEC; For optimum adhesion when printing, gluing or coating on various substrates, it is necessary to obtain a high surface energy. Determining the surface energy can be achieved by measuring contact-angle or by use of Tantec Surface Energy Test Inks - DyneTEC. This type of measurement is based on the ISO and ASTM methods for measuring the surface energy of polyethylene.
  2. MonTEC Electronic quality control system to monitor the performance of a Corona discharge on Corona electrodes. MonTEC is an add-on or an integrated monitoring system for Tantec's Corona systems.

The Tantec Group

The Tantec Group is a privately held company founded in 1974, and is a leading manufacturer of standard and customized Plasma and Corona systems for surface treatment of plastics and metals to enhance adhesion properties. Tantec surface treaters are sold worldwide to end-users and OEM's through our own branch offices and more than 30 partners.

Tantec A/S is headquartedin Lunderskov, Denmark, in a purpose-build factory from 1989, housing sales, service, research and development of specialized mechanical and electronic surface treatment equipment.

Tantec EST Inc. is covering sales and service to the North American customers since 1987, from Glendale Heights IL, just outside Chicago. Tantec GmbH in Wimsheim, and Tantec GmbH Nord in Hamburg, are sales and service offices as well as manufacturing facilities established in Germany in 1995 and 1998.

The Tantec Group is an innovative organization with a high level of know-how, continuously developing new Plasma and Corona equipment to help solving adhesion problems, and to meet high customer demands.
