West Coast Magnetics is a leading supplier of standard and custom magnetics to OEM medical device companies. With manufacturing facilities located in Stockton, California and in Mexico, we are able to deliver product into the U.S. within one hour. Both plants are qualified to our stringent Quality Assurance program and WCM is ISO9001:2008 certified.

We understand the demanding requirements of the medical device industry. Time to market, cost, and exacting design requirements are what determine success. The magnetic components are often custom in nature and most require safety agency approval.

WCM has a separate team within our organization to address the needs of our customer's design engineers directly. This team has our most highly trained engineers and technicians and they have partnered with many medical companies to support their design and build requirements.

Custom Design

We are trained in the design of the following types of magnetic components:

Inductors: RF, tuned circuit, buck, boost, PFC, line reactors.

Transformers: switchmode (all topologies), linear single and 3 phase, isolation

Power Transformers

All of our power transformers are custom. We stock a wide selection of core materials and geometries in order to be able to deliver fully designed and specified prototypes to your precise electrical specifications within 2 weeks after receipt of your order.

Safety Agency Approval

You will require safety agency approval and we understand the fundamentals of building isolation into a transformer. WCM has qualified many components to FDA, CSA, UL and VDE medical requirements.

Standard Products

We have designed a number of standard product offerings to support the custom transformers as stand alone products:

• RF Inductors: Tunable, High Q, and SMD models link here to RF inductor page
• Common Mode Chokes: Offered in SMD and through hole versions from 100 milliamps to 50 amps
• Power Inductors: SMD , through hole and chassis mount to 100 amps. Foil and solid wire. Chassis, shaped-foil SMD, and high-current inductors
• Current Sense Transformers: 100 kHz, 45 Amp, SMD, and 50Hz-1kHz versions
• Base Drive Transformers: Base gate drive transformer
• Noise Cut Transformers: 2.5 KVA noise cut transformers

Capabilities

Build capabilities at both facilities include toroidal and bobbin winding equipment, assembly, potting, impregnation and a complete range of electrical tests. All of our products are 100% electrical tested on equipment calibrated to NIST standards.

We are capable of designing and producing power transformers to the following limits:

• Switch Mode 2 VA to 15 KVA
• 60 Hz Single Phase 2 VA to 15 KVA
• 60 Hz Three Phase up to 20 KVA
• High Voltage: output voltage up to 20 KV
